At Monext Mining, sustainability is not an afterthought—it’s central to how we design and operate our business. We recognize that mining has environmental and social impacts, and we take our responsibility seriously to minimize harm and maximize benefits.
Environmental Stewardship
Unlike traditional small-scale gold mining in Tanzania, which often relies on mercury amalgamation, Monext Mining uses only cyanide-based processing in a controlled industrial setting. This eliminates mercury pollution and protects both workers and the environment.
- Closed-loop water recycling systems minimize freshwater consumption
- Proper containment of process water prevents contamination of natural water sources
- Regular monitoring of water quality in and around our operations
- Tailings are stored in properly engineered facilities with appropriate linings
- Waste rock is segregated and stockpiled for potential future use
- Cyanide detoxification processes treat all effluent before discharge
- Progressive rehabilitation of disturbed areas
While our current operations rely on diesel generators, we are actively exploring renewable energy options including solar power to reduce our carbon footprint and operating costs.
